Six-of-Crows

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Nina ground her teeth. “Do people just come and go from Hellgate for fun?”

“Once a week they do,” said Inej, her little imp horns bobbing along with her head.

Yes, yes, I am FINALLY reading this book. Unfortunately, I hardly picked it up at all over the weekend. I was kind of taking it easy after such a heavy week of reading. But I should really dive into it today. I’m so excited, too! Everyone says that I will love it. Fingers crossed!

Have you read Six of Crows? If so, what are your thoughts on it? What are you currently reading? Are you enjoying your current book?

The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1) by Samantha Shannon

“If this place is so terrible then go, dear girl. The door is alway open.” His voice dropped a few notes. “The door to the cold, dark streets.”

-page 357

I read this book back when it first came out. However, I remember absolutely nothing about it, the characters, what happened, etc. So now that I own the following two books in the series, I decided it was time to reread this one and then binge the rest of the series to catch up. I’m about 60 pages into it and I’m already obsessed. READ THIS BOOK.

This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity, #1) by Victoria Schwab

“—the man downstairs, he told me,” she went on, as if she hadn’t heard him. “It spilled right out of his mouth, little brother. He couldn’t keep it in. He went back and forth, back and forth, but then he broke, like all things do….”

Starting on this beauty right after I finish this post. Excited to see what all of the hype is about!

The Crown’s Game (The Crown’s Game, #1) by Evelyn Skye

“A little precipitation never hurt anybody,” he said. “Settle in, dear city girl. It may be a very long winter.”

-page 144

Here’s my sacrilegious statement of the day: This book is sooooo much more interesting than The Night Circus. That book was boring as hell and this one is fun. BOOM.

Ten Thousand Skies Above You (Firebird, #2) by Claudia Gray

The unbearable terror of the past hour expands, explodes. Every thought I have vaporizes. Nothing remains but the hard truth: Paul kidnapped me.

-page 213

Oh my gosh, why is this series so good?! Read it. Don’t even question it, just do it.

Aftermath: Life Debt (Star Wars: Aftermath, #2) by Chuck Wendig

“‘That’s exactly right. This is war. It’s easy to get caught up in the swell of it. The medals, the parades, the garlands of lorachid petals on the victors’ brows. But it’s important to remember that war is mostly this: destruction and death. We are killers.'”

-page 157

I haven’t actually started this book yet but I’m looking forward to it. Give me anything pertaining to Star Wars and it’s love at first sight. I’m a big old nerd and I’m not even ashamed to admit it.

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor

“What is a god?” was Eril-Fane’s reply. “I don’t know the answer to that, but I can tell you this: The Mesarthim were powerful, but they were nothing holy.”

-page 177

I’ve only read the first chapter so far in this book, but it’s been very interesting so far. As of right now, I think I might enjoy this book more than The Daughter of Smoke and Bone. That’s a very good thing because for a while, I was afraid that Taylor’s work just wasn’t for me. Of course I’m only this book from a prologue and a chapter so I might be jumping the gun a bit on it.

Strange the Dreamer is the story of:

the aftermath of a war between gods and men
a mysterious city stripped of its name
a mythic hero with blood on his hands
a young librarian with a singular dream
a girl every bit as perilous as she is imperiled
alchemy and blood candy, nightmares and godspawn, moths and monsters, friendship and treachery, love and carnage.

Welcome to Weep.

He turned his head to kiss my palm. “Remind me to give you a salary raise.”

I choked on a cough. “For what?”

“For the sage counsel – and the other vital services you provide me.” He winked.

-page 342

I obviously had to choose this teaser because of sassy Rhysand. I love when he comes out of nowhere with his sexual comments, they always crack me up!

Alias Hook by Lisa Jensen

“That’s right, run away,” she says tersely. “Go back to your ship, your men, your precious boys, back to your stupid war; that’s all you care about. You’re just like all of them! Stay here forever, if that’s what you want. God forbid you should ever grow up and be a man!”

-page 245

I honestly didn’t know much about this book before I picked it up, and I have to say that it’s nothing like I imagined. This is a much more mature and adult version of the infamous Captain Hook’s story after he was eaten by the crocodile. It will definitely change your view of the story of Neverland.

A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic, #3) by V.E. Schwab

It was a palace fit for a king.

Fit for a god.

A place of promise, potential, power.

-page 289

Sorry that it’s been so long since I’ve posted, y’all! March was a bit of a crazy month for me and then I was also in a little reading slump and only read 2 books. I’m hoping that I’m slowly getting out of my slump and that I’ll finish strong for this month. Here’s hoping, right?
