What are you currently reading?

  • Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham – audiobook
  • Middlemarch by George Eliot – physical book
  • Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – physical book
  • Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal – audiobook

I’m going to be taking my time with Middlemarch and so I’m only like 60 pages into the book so far. It’s been very engaging, even though not much has happened yet. I’m really enjoying all of the characters.

After loving An Enchantment of Ravens, I pretty much knew that Rogerson would be an author that I’m going to love anything she writes. Well, being about 100 pages into Sorcery of Thorns, I can already tell that this will completely the case. This book is so exciting and I’m loving the dynamic between the characters. Also, SO MUCH SARCASM. Yes, Thorn is awesome.

I haven’t listened to much of Dreamland Burning this week, due to the heavy content putting me in a bad head space at the moment. I do plan to finish the story, but I just needed to take a little bit of a break.

Which has lead me to starting Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows. I’m only a couple of chapters into this book so far, but I’m still enjoying it. This definitely seems like the lighthearted read that I needed and I can’t wait to continue with the story.

  • Freeks by Amanda Hocking – physical book

This book didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It was definitely the most average story that I’ve read. It wasn’t the worst book that I’ve ever read, I just feel that there was so much more room for Hocking to expand on the supernatural side of the story. I think the world-building was just really lacking.

What do you think you’ll read next?

  • Romanov by Nadine Brandes – audiobook
  • Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno – physical book
  • Winterspell by Claire Legrand – physical book
  • The Gallery by Laura Marx-Fitzgerald – physical book

What are you currently reading?

  • Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham – audiobook
  • Freeks by Amanda Hocking – physical book
  • Middlemarch by George Eliot – physical book

I should be finishing Dreamland Burning today and I’m both nervous and excited to see how it’s going to end. I just know it’s going to be a seriously bittersweet ending. I even have a box of tissues at my desk for it.

I haven’t read much of Freeks this past week, but I do plan on making some progress tonight. I hope to finish it by this weekend so I can move on to something else that might grab my attention more.

I decided to go ahead and start on Middlemarch, as it’s such a long book and I plan to take my time with it. I’m about 60 pages into the story and while not a lot has happened, I find myself really engrossed in the story. It’s been so long since I’ve read a classic, I’m really excited about it!

What did you recently finish reading?

Nothing at all. It’s been a slow reading week for me.

What do you think you’ll read next?

  • Winterspell by Claire Legrand – physical book
  • Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno – physical book
  • Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – physical book

What are you currently reading?

  • Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham – audiobook
  • Freeks by Amanda Hocking – physical book

I’m about halfway through Freeks and it’s been alright. I was hoping for something a little scarier, but so far it’s been much tamer than what I was expecting. Maybe it’ll get scarier as the story goes on… hopefully.

I haven’t really started Dreamland Burning, but I hope to later today when I get some free time. It sounds like such an amazing story and I’m excited to really jump into it. Gimme that historical fiction!

What did you recently finish reading?

  • Finale (Caraval, #3) by Stephanie Garber – physical book
  • Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by Robin LaFevers – audiobook

Of course, I enjoyed Finale! I thought it was a really good ending to the trilogy, even if the ending was a little rushed. And as much as I love me some Legend, I really think Jacks stole my heart in this one. Y’all, I am a sucker for the bad boy. That’s right, walking cliche right here!

Grave Mercy was a decent historical fiction. It wasn’t quite as “exciting” as I thought it was going to be but I still plan to finish the series.. At least I think I am. We will see.

What do you think you’ll read next?

  • Middlemarch by George Eliot – physical book
  • Winterspell by Claire Legrand – physical book
  • Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno – physical book

What are you currently reading?

  • Finale (Caraval, #3) by Stephanie Garber – physical book
  • Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by Robin LaFevers – audiobook
  • Freeks by Amanda Hocking – physical book

I’m over halfway through listening to Grave Mercy. This turned out to be a much longer listen than I was expecting but I’m actually enjoying it. I like the large focus on politics and that it’s set in historical France which isn’t a setting used very often. I’m almost done with Finale and I’m super scared to see how this story is going to end. It’s taken a few different turns that I wasn’t expecting and that makes me nervous. I still can’t decide if I like Legend or Jacks more…. I go back and forth on those two. And I’ve made zero progress with Freeks, as I’ve put it aside for Finale.

What did you recently finish reading?

Nothing…. Oops.

What do you think you’ll read next?

  • Middlemarch by George Eliot – physical book
  • Winterspell by Claire Legrand – physical book
  • Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno – physical book

I still have the same TBR planned. I hope to start on Middlemarch as soon as I finish Finale!

  • Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by Robin LaFevers – audiobook
  • Freeks by Amanda Hocking – physical book

I’m not very far into any of these books actually, as I only started Grave Mercy and Finale yesterday. But I am soooo excited to really get into these stories. I’ve been dying for Finale ever since the end of Legendary and I almost can’t believe I finally have it! I’ve also heard amazing things about the His Dark Assassin series. It seems like I’m really late to the party but hey, at least I finally showed up!

What did you recently finish reading?

  • The Paragon Hotel by Lyndsay Faye – audiobook
  • Lifel1k3 (Lifelike, #1) by Jay Kristoff – physical book
  • Jade City (The Green Bone Saga, #1) by Fonda Lee – physical book

Honestly, I really enjoyed all three of these books. The Paragon Hotel was totally different than what I was expecting, much more adult themed and not at all YA like I originally thought it was. It was still very good and well-written, just know that before picking it up! I also loved Jade City. It was very detailed and took me a long time before I was able to fully grasp the world-building. And we all know how awesome Jay Kristoff is at writing, so I don’t think I really need to explain how much I enjoyed Lifel1k3.

What do you think you’ll read next?

  • Middlemarch by George Eliot – physical book
  • Winterspell by Claire Legrand – physical book
  • Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno – physical book

My May TBR

Another month, another TBR list that I would really like to complete but then again I also know deep down that I probably won’t. But hey, I like to challenge myself each month and then I can get a little pat on the back when I actually get through them all. It’s the little things in life…

  • The Paragon Hotel by Lyndsay Faye – audiobook, currently reading
  • The Gallery by Laura Marx-Fitzgerald – physical book
  • Winterspell (Winterspell, #1) by Claire Legrand – physical book
  • Lifel1k3 (Lifelike, #1) by Jay Kristoff – physical book, currently reading
  • Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by Robin LaFevers – audiobook
