2016 Reading Challenges Wrap-Up

I’m dubbing today as Reading Challenge Day because I have this post and a 2017 Reading Challenges post coming up later on this afternoon. I’m so cool, right?!

Anyways, I’m just gonna say that 2016 wasn’t a complete success when it came to reading challenges, but it wasn’t a complete bomb either. Here’s hoping that 2017 is even better!

2016 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge

This is a challenge that I wasn’t consciously doing. It was just a fun challenge to see if any of the books that I read fit the different criteria. I plan to get a little bit more serious about this year’s challenge but we’ll just see how that goes.

You can read my original post for this challenge HERE. Click on book title to read my review for it.

New Update:

  • A book with a blue cover – How to Hang a Witch by Adriana Mather
  • The first book you see in a bookstore – Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling (no review)
  • A book that takes place on an island – Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns, #1) by Kendare Blake

Previous Update:

Total: 21/40

I’d say over 50% without even trying is pretty good. But I’m probably just trying to make myself feel better…

2016 Goodreads Reading Challenge Update

I’m going to blame this one on my summer reading slump. However, I do feel that I finished really strongly and ended up doing so much better than I what I thought I would do. Here’s hoping that 2017 is even better!

Previous Total: 57/100

Final Total: 76/100

I hope everyone had a fantastic reading year and were able to complete all of your challenges!

Reading Challenge Updates – October 2nd, 2016

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these hasn’t it? I think for next year, I will just do quarterly updates instead. Easier to keep up with and maintain if I only have to update every 3 months, rather than at the end of every month. It won’t look as awful if I have a bad month of reading, either. BONUS!

POPSUGAR 2016 Reading Challenge

Yeahhhhh, I have not been consciously reading books to check off this list. It tends to leave my mind when I’m trying to decide what to read next. Hopefully I will do better for next year’s challenge! And yes, you’re reading that right – I only got to check off one item this time. So embarrassing…

Click on the name to see my review for that book. Click HERE to see my original post and download your own PDF version of the challenge.

New Items Checked Off:

Previous Update:

TOTAL: 18/40

I could probably do better on this…. Yikes.

2016 Goodreads Challenge

Now, this one I really am ashamed of. I’ll blame it on me starting my new job in June and so I was so busy during the summer that I hardly had time to read. That and I was in a reading slump so I binge watched Netflix the whole time. Makes sense, right?

Previous Total: 29/100

However, I am proud to say that my reading habits are back and fully functional! I don’t think I’ll be able to hit my goal for this year by the end of December but I do think it will still be a pretty decent total by the end. Sometimes I feel too much pressure from these challenges, and all it does is make me feel anxious. And I hate feeling anxious. I’m currently 18 books behind schedule and I really don’t like that at all. It’s both annoying and kind of mean how it tells you how far behind you are. I mean, geeze Goodreads, take it easy!

New Total: 57/100

How are you doing on your reading challenges? Which challenges do you participate in? Do you enjoy reading challenges or is it too much pressure?
