WWW Wednesday – August 29th, 2018

Welcome to WWW Wednesday which is currently being hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. It’s really just a place to do little update on what all you’ve been reading lately. Anyone is welcome to join, just leave a link to your post in the comments and be sure to give the appropriate credit to Sam!

The Three W’s are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

  • Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch – physical book
  • Orphan Monster Spy by Matt Killeen – audiobook

I’m almost halfway through Love & Luck and I’m enjoying it so far. It makes me miss Ireland so much and making the wait until I go back in June that much harder. I’m also totally swooning over Rowan. New book boyfriend alert?!

I haven’t listened much lately to Orphan Monster Spy, as it’s reached a point where the story is really slowing down. I would’ve expected this to be the time where everything starts happening, but that hasn’t been the case yet. The writing style still really isn’t meshing well with me either.

What did you recently finish reading?

  • The Lost Vintage by Ann Mah – audiobook
  • Renegades (Renegades, #1) by Marissa Meyer – physical book

I was really excited to start The Lost Vintage as its been getting lots of buzz since it came out earlier this summer. However, it fell short for me. The story wasn’t quite what I was expecting and I was really let down by the plot involving the big family secret. But I did enjoy the main character, Kate. She helped kept me pulled into the story.

I really enjoyed Renegades. I know this book has some mixed reviews, but it really checked all of the boxes for me. I liked how both sides aren’t completely good or completely bad, which is usually true in most situations. I mean, life really is just one big grey area, right? The ending was also really well done and left me craving that final book, which comes out this fall. So excited to see how this one ends!

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m not really sure what I’ll be picking up next. I leave for my beach vacation on Sunday and so I think I’ll try and pick up a really long book that should last the week. I have so many to choose from! Maybe Tower of Dawn?

What are you currently reading? What books did you finish this week? What are you planning on reading next? Have you read any of the books on my list? If so, what did you think of them? Leave a link to your WWW Wednesday post in the comments below!

  1. I haven’t read any of these but of course I’m a big Marissa Meyer fan! Love and Luck intrigued me because Ireland love AND Irish book boyfriend? Yes please!
I’ve recently acquired Tower of Dawn but can’t seem to finish Empire of Storms first so I don’t know how that’ll work 😂
I hope you enjoy whatever you choose to read next! ❤️

  2. I have to confess I gave up on Tower of Dawn literally 10 pages from the end. It’s just too long. Chaol is better in it than the previous 2 books but it’s all just dragged out. I’m currently swithering over whether to actually read the last book when it comes out. There is no need for a 992 page tome. (I will no doubt read it though)

    1. Oh noooo, don’t tell me that! I was really hoping it’d be a great beach read lol. I kept going back and forth between it and The Fall of Giants. It’s starting to seem like it’s a love it or hate it kind of book. But I feel like I have to read it before Kingdom of Ash comes out or I might not know what all is going on… *sigh*

      1. I mean I read most of it and there are some great moments. I don’t know what happened that I couldn’t be bothered actually finishing it (I do seem to be doing that a lot lately). It’s pretty heavy on the romance so is probably quite a good beach read. Plus it doesn’t jump around as much as the previous one, making it an easier read (for me at any rate).
