The Shadow Hour (The Girl at Midnight, #2) by Melissa Grey

I’m currently about a 1/4 of the way through this one and am enjoying it so far. It started a bit slower the first book, but I think it’s starting to pick up some now. I’m interested in seeing where the story goes next…. Secretly hoping for dragons to show up, honestly.

Obsidio (The Illuminae Files, #3) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I can’t even with this series.. It’s literally so freaking amazing! I went on such a roller-coaster ride with this book and am blown away on what a great job Kaufman and Kristoff did with it. I’m eagerly waiting for their next series to come out!

Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente

This is why I love preordering from Amazon, the books actually are delivered to me on their release date. I literally squealed with delight when I opened this one up last night. It’s so shiny and pretty! This will be my first book by Valente that I’ve read, even though I think I own like 3 others. I’ve heard great things about her writing so I’m really looking forward to it! I’m also a hardcore Eurovision fan, so this book is already speaking to me on all kinds of levels.

What did you read this past week? What are you currently reading? What do you plan on reading next? Have you read any of the books on my list? If so, what did you think of them? Please leave a link to your WWW Wednesday in the comments below!

  1. Obsidio! I still haven’t written my spoiler free review cause the feels are still real & raw! haha! I LOVED it to pieces & will miss the crew so much *sobs* & I feel ya on the Amazon coming through on release dates *woot woot* lately I’ve been ordering from B&N strictly for the exclusives but it sucks when you pre-order & the book doesn’t arrive til’ a week later smh. I can’t believe I forgot Space Opera was being released *gasp* I’m looking forward to your thoughts 🙂

    1. Oh, I know how you feel. I’m gonna try and have my written and posted for tomorrow but work has been crazy this week, so we shall see if that happens, haha… I know! I preordered Obsidio from B&N so I could get the exclusive edition and was so annoyed I got it so late. WHY YOU GOTTA BE THIS WAY, B&N?!… I know, I kept thinking Space Opera was releasing later this month until I received the shipping email from Amazon and got a pleasant surprise. I totally forgot Defy the Worlds came out last week!! I need to get to the bookstore soon to snag a copy. I’m still not over the cover change though…

      1. Jeeeeez! I’m missing book release dates left and right…what is wrong with me?!? I have yet to read Defy the Worlds and I have a arc 🤦🏻‍♀️ work and life have also been SUPER hectic on my end. Hopefully the return of my blogging mojo will see an end to my forgetfulness 🤞🏼😂 I haven’t seen the cover change yet but off to Google I go now 👀

  2. Space Opera sounds pretty interesting. Love the cover for it too! I still need to read Gemina, but have been putting it off forever now because I really didn’t like Illuminae very much and have been on the fence about giving it a second chance.

  3. I almost started Illuminae at the weekend but someone advised it was best to listen to the audio as I read so I’ve put it on pause again. I don’t think I’ll last much longer though as I am desperate to read this series.

  4. Hey there! Omigosh, book three of the Illuminae series is out and I didn’t even know. Book one was a reading experience like no other. Book two was good, but I felt like the end copped out a bit—maybe it’s just me and the mood I was in at the time. But I’m glad to hear book three is good I better get on it!
