One of my all-time favorite booktubers, Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes actually posted a video recently where she looked over her TBR shelves and made some predictions on which books may end up being 5 stars for her. And I’m like, that’s a freaking fabulous idea! Because I literally have an entire Billy bookshelf full of only TBR books. That’s right! I currently have a bookshelf full of just books that I have not read yet. Do you think I have a book buying problem? Yesssssss, I do. But don’t we all?! Anyways, I’ve decided to do the exact same thing and go through my TBR bookshelf and try to predict which books could end up being 5 star reads. Now, for the sake of my sanity and your’s, I will only be picking from books that I currently already own. Trying to predict all of the upcoming releases probably deserves its own separate post, right?
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
A story within a story? Check. A fabulous classic film actress’ juicy personal life? Check. And some big secret? Oh yes, this book is just screaming AMAZING to me.
Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan
It’s been a while since I’ve read a true adult fantasy novel. I read the first chapter of it a while back when I was trying to decide what to read next and it really grabbed my attention. I have very high hopes for this series, especially with the fantastic reviews its gotten.
Invictus by Ryan Graudin
After reading Graudin’s Wolf by Wolf duology, I’m pretty sure that I’m just going to love whatever else she writes. That combined with the fact that this one follows a time-traveling group of thieves is practically guaranteeing it to be a new favorite.
The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson
Yet another adult fantasy on my list. This will actually end up being my first Sanderson book but shhhhh, don’t tell anyone!
Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1) by Jay Kristoff
A badass female assassin just screams Larkin’s new best friend. Plus, Kristoff is such a great writer and funny guy so I’m expecting that personality to come through in this dark series opener.
Thrawn (Star Wars: Thrawn, #1) by Timothy Zahn
Everyone’s favorite Star Wars villain is on full display in this book. I’ve heard from Star Wars fans that this one is in their top 3 favorites and that is enough to persuade me!
The Dark Days Pact (Lady Helen, #2) by Alison Goodman
I freaking loved the first book and after the cliffhanger it ended on, I can only imagine how much more awesome and action packed this sequel is going to be. Ahhhhhh!!!
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio
I used to not really be into murder mystery type novels, but lately they’ve really been grabbing my attention. This one centers around a group of Shakespeare actors at a conservatory who raise the stakes by actually murdering one of their own.
The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #1) by Erika Johansen
I have such high hopes for this book that I went ahead and bought the entire trilogy in hardback. PLEASE LET IT BE AMAZING!
Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1) by Morgan Rhodes
I’ve heard this series compared as a YA Game of Thrones. GAME OF THRONES?! Yes, yes, yes! I want political intrigue, multiple storylines, and all kinds of characters along the moral spectrum. Let’s just not have anyone push a kid out of a window in the first chapter, please?
What books on your TBR do you think will end up being 5 stars for you? Have you read any of the books on my list? If so, what did you think of them? Have you ever read a book that you just knew would be 5 stars but ended up disappointing you, or vice versa?
The only book on this list that I’ve read is If We Were Villains, and it was definitely a 5-star read for me! I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

Nevernight is good, probably 4 or 4.5 star for me, a great read just not perfect. Now, Godsgrave it’s sequel 5 out of 5.
Ive never read a Sullivan book!😂 And, I’ve only read 1 Sanderson, the first Mistborn book. If you enjoy the Stormlight book you’d better get on reading, book 3 is out very soon and aren’t they all 1,000+ pages.😂

Well either way, sounds like Kristoff has definitely hit the mark with this series!
Really?! I’m surprised since you pretty much only read adult fantasy! I don’t even know you right now, haha!!… Haha, yeah they are. I have some catching up to do lol.

Gahhhh! you have 1 bookcase but I’m ashamed to have 2 filled with unread books…*sobs* & I see Evelyn has made another appearance, I am SOOOOO gonna read that book before year end, you just watch me Larkin! lol. Confession: I’ve owned Way of Kings for 2 years now smh, after seeing everyone on Bookstagram get copies of the 3rd book in the series I kicked myself ever so gently. It’s just so MASSIVE! but I did manage to score a digital free copy from Tor so maybe soon *fingers crossed*…I have a feeling our shelves would be eerily similar haha! EPIC list! can’t wait to read your thoughts on these as you tackle them 🙂

Well my one shelf is definitely pushing its limits right now, haha! And I do plan on reading Evelyn before the end of the year, as well. We shall see who gets to her first, haha!!
Yeah, I’ve owned Way of Kings for a while now too. The size of it has kind of put me off so far but I plan to pick it up sooner rather than later. Maybe at the start of the new year?
Hahaha I bet they’d be really close too! We should compare sometime lol! 🙂

Morgan Rhodes and Erika Johansen were 5 stars for me even if the last one of the Tearling trilogy was a let down. We’ll see in a few weeks if you were right 😉

Oh, that makes me excited! I’ll definitely be posting reviews for both of them. 🙂
