WWW Wednesday – October 11th, 2017

Welcome to WWW Wednesday which is currently being hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. It’s really just a place to do little update on what all you’ve been reading lately. Anyone is welcome to join, just leave a link to your post in the comments and be sure to give the appropriate credit to Sam!

The Three W’s are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

  • A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge – audiobook
  • Daughter of the Burning City – Amanda Foody – physical book

Still slowly listening my way through A Face Like Glass. This audiobook is so dang long and I can only listen to it while there’s nothing else going on because it’s so detailed. I only have about 4 hours left though, so I’m finally coming up on the end!

I started Daughter of the Burning City last night for my first read for the Halloween Read-A-Thon. I’ve heard great things about this book so I’m really excited to finally dive into it. Thanks to all of my Twitter followers who voted in the poll and chose it!

What did you recently finish reading?

  • Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero – 4/5 stars, Review
  • The Cutting Season by Attica Locke – 4/5 stars, review to come
  • One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns, #2) by Kendare Blake – 5/5 stars, Review

I had a very good reading week. I really enjoyed all 3 books that I read, especially One Dark Throne. If you had any issues with the first book in the series, this one will take care of ’em. Don’t put this one off any longer than you have to! I absolutely loved it from start to finish and could not put it down. FOR REAL. The Cutting Season was a real pleasant surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed getting swept away with. I definitely recommend it for an atmospheric mystery. While Meddling Kids was a kooky read from start to finish that had me laughing out loud.

What do you think you’ll read next?

  • One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
  • The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss – Hype or Like Friday October BOTM

Continuing with my TBR for the Halloween Read-A-Thon, I will be picking up one of these two beauties next. I’ve heard some really good things about One of Us is Lying, while Alchemist’s Daughter hasn’t been talked about much. Both sound so intriguing though and go perfectly with October. Can’t wait to get started on them!

What books have you read this week? What are you currently reading? What’s coming up next on your TBR? Are you participating in the Halloween Read-A-Thon? Leave a link to your WWW Wednesday in the comments below!

  1. EeeeeK! I’m one of those who voted for Daughter of the Burning City! *victory dance* so YAY! & i’m so glad you are enjoying it. I really need to read A Face Like Glass to get it off my Netgalley Queue *sobs* but after seeing it in person & how thick it was I got a bit intimidated LMAO! but I can def see it being a task to get through in audiobook format smh, i don’t envy you haha! Three Dark Crowns is on my TBR & I’m glad to see the 2nd book getting higher ratings, bit of encouragement. The Strange Case of the Alchemists Daughter is CALLING MY NAME! smh. Happy reading Larkin, hope your awesome books streak continues 🙂

    1. Hahaha yes, you were! Good choice there, Lilly!.. Yeah, it’s pretty hefty. This audiobook I think totaled at around 17 hours! Was not expecting that, haha. I think I was overly ambitious with this pick… I hope you pick up The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter. It sounds sooo good!
