TOPIC OF THE WEEK: Fantastical Magics… What are some of your favorite magical systems?
Fantastical Magics
1. Harry Potterseries – Regular Magic
Just give me some good old-fashioned regular style magic with wands and spells. Let’s keep it classic sometimes, people!
2. Three Dark Crowns trilogy – Naturalists, Poisoners, Elementalists
I love how there’s only three different factions of magic in this world and that they all basically hate each other. I find it so intriguing that it’s only these three types. Now I’m just ready to see the sisters fight it out! Low-key rooting for the Naturalists…Shhhhh, don’t tell anyone.
3. Witchlands series – Witches
I’m not really sure what to call the magic system in this series, but I love it. It was a little difficult to follow at first but then I was like, okay this is fucking cool. You have some who can control air, others who can tell when someone is telling the truth, even some who can manipulate blood in order to heal themselves. Yeah, it’s impressive.
4. A Court of Thorns and Roses series – Fae Magic
I just love how many different abilities some of the Fae have in this series. I think it’s cool that Tamlin can transform, Azriel can blend in with the shadows, etc. Basically everyone has some awesome ability and it makes me insanely jealous. Let’s not even mention that fact that Feyre has them all. So greedy!
5. Strange the Dreamer – The “Gods”
When you’re the offspring of gods, there tend to be some perks that come along with that. Hercules was insanely strong, Achilles was invincible except for his ankle, and then you have these kids who are gifted as well. Ruby can set fire, Sarai can manipulate dreams, and Sparrow can control plants.

Great List! ACOTAR is one of my favorite series and I love its magical System. I’ve read the first book in the witchland series and loved it but I haven’t read the second book yet. Strange The Dreamer is in my tbr and I’m planning to get to it soon.

I found the magic system really interesting in Three Dark Crowns (even though the book itself let me down a little). And Harry Potter of course because that’s what introduced me to the world of magic in general ♥
