Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi
I’m only a couple of chapters into this one right now, as I didn’t get to read any more of it last night. So far it’s very cute and whimsical, perfect for a middle grade fantasy! Also, can I just mention how in love I am with that cover?!
Inspired by her childhood love of books like The Secret Garden and The Chronicles of Narnia, bestselling author Tahereh Mafi crafts a spellbinding new world where color is currency, adventure is inevitable, and friendship is found in the most unexpected places.
There are only three things that matter to twelve-year-old Alice Alexis Queensmeadow: Mother, who wouldn’t miss her; magic and color, which seem to elude her; and Father, who always loved her. The day Father disappears from Ferenwood he takes nothing but a ruler with him. But it’s been almost three years since then, and Alice is determined to find him. She loves her father even more than she loves adventure, and she’s about to embark on one to find the other.
But bringing Father home is no small matter. In order to find him she’ll have to travel through the mythical, dangerous land of Furthermore, where down can be up, paper is alive, and left can be both right and very, very wrong. It will take all of Alice’s wits (and every limb she’s got) to find Father and return home to Ferenwood in one piece. On her quest to find Father, Alice must first find herself—and hold fast to the magic of love in the face of loss.
What did you recently finish reading?
- A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes, #2) by Sabaa Tahir – 5/5 stars
- We Are Still Tornadoes by Michael Kun & Susan Mullen – 4/5 stars
- Love, Lies, and Spies by Cindy Anstey – 4/5 stars
Obviously, I did a fairly good amount of reading since my last WWW Wednesday post. I also highly recommend all 3 of these books. They were so much fun!
What do you think you’ll read next?
I haven’t decided between these 3 books yet but I’m leaning towards The Shadow Queen. I have the sequels for the other two so I think once I start them then I will just end up binge reading the rest of the series. Makes sense, right?
What are you currently reading? What do you plan to read next? Have you read any of the books on my list? Leave a link to your WWW Wednesday post in the comments below!
I haven’t read the torch against the night yet but I’m hoping to read it soon. I loved Starflight! I hope you enjoy it when you get to it! 🙂

Yeah, I kept putting it off because I didn’t think I’d enjoy it but luckily it ended up being amazing! And that’s great because I’m really looking forward to that one. It sounds like such a fun read!
