A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes, #2)Β by Sabaa Tahir

So I am just loving this book so far. There are so many twists and turns, and it’s been non-stop action since page 1. Not bad so far.. for a sequel!
Elias and Laia are running for their lives. After the events of the Fourth Trial, Martial soldiers hunt the two fugitives as they flee the city of Serra and undertake a perilous journey through the heart of the Empire.
Laia is determined to break into Kaufβthe Empireβs most secure and dangerous prisonβto save her brother, who is the key to the Scholarsβ survival. And Elias is determined to help Laia succeed, even if it means giving up his last chance at freedom.
But dark forces, human and otherworldly, work against Laia and Elias. The pair must fight every step of the way to outsmart their enemies: the bloodthirsty Emperor Marcus, the merciless Commandant, the sadistic Warden of Kauf, and, most heartbreaking of all, HeleneβEliasβs former friend and the Empireβs newest Blood Shrike.
Bound to Marcusβs will, Helene faces a torturous mission of her ownβone that might destroy her: find the traitor Elias Veturius and the Scholar slave who helped him escapeβ¦and kill them both.

I bought An Ember in the Ashes like a year ago and still haven’t read it. I’m such a slacker lol I really need to read these freaking books!

Hahaha that’s okay, I do the exact same thing all the time! Ember was good but nothing spectacular for me when I first read it but this one is so much more engaging I think!

Good to know! I’ve heard good things about both books so hopefully I end up enjoying them whenever I finally get around to them π

I haven’t finished either book yet, but I did read a little of An Ember in the Ashes and it’s quite good! I will finish it one of these days, especially if the sequel has such good lines in it. That choice you made is true, even if it’s hard to remember sometimes.
