My 2017 Reading Challenges (O.M.G!)

I’m setting the bar extremely high for 2017. The word for this year is YES! I plan to be more fun, more productive, and really focus on bettering myself this year. So of course, I decided to kick my reading ass into gear by joining a bunch of reading challenges. Lord, give me strength! (because this might’ve been a bad idea…)

Also, I plan to track the challenges through a monthly wrap-up post. I didn’t do this last year, but I feel it might be beneficial in tracking my progress to see what I need to focus on. It’s nice to see when progress is being made or when you’re being lazy and need a swift kick in the rear.

POPSUGAR Reading Challenge

This year the challenge is being taken to a whole new level, as they have decided to add an advanced challenge as well. I think that’s a pretty cool idea, especially if you’re a crazy awesome bookworm who can speed through challenges like nobody’s business. I didn’t do the best job with last year’s challenge but I plan to consciously take part in this year’s. They have also created a Goodreads group for this year’s challenge that you can join HERE. This challenge is open for anyone and everyone!

I will also be participating in their monthly challenge that you can find on their Goodreads group. It’s much simpler and easy to do if you’re looking for something a little less intense.

January: A book with one of the four seasons in the title
February: A book by a person of color
March: A book about an interesting woman
April: A book with an unreliable narrator
May: A novel set during wartime
June: A book involving travel
July: A book set in two different time periods
August: A book set in the wilderness
September: A book of letters
October: A book with a mythical creature
November: A book about food
December: A book that’s published in 2017

Beat the Backlist

Now I already posted about this challenge last month which you can read about HERE. I also joined the mini House Cup monthly challenge, so I’m here to help my fellow Ravenclaws! This challenge is also open to anyone, all you need to do is sign up and register. All information and links are in my original post!

Goodreads Reading Challenge

I’ve set my goal this year at 100 books again. I really think I can do it, as long as I don’t go into a massive reading slump like I did last summer. It’s a little bit harder to do with a full time job, but I’m keeping the faith!

Goal: 100 Books

What reading challenges are you participating in this year? What are some of your reading goals? Are you participating in any of the same challenges as me?

    1. Yeah, my didn’t go too well last year either. Luckily the group is awesome! I looked it over yesterday and it comes with tons of recs for each topic, buddy reads, discussions and more. I highly recommend it if you need some inspiration!

  1. Good luck!! My Goodreads goal is to read 60 books. I am also participating in the Beat the Backlist challenge and the mini house challenge (fellow Ravenclaw), the re read it challenge, and the pages read challenge where I am hoping to read 24,000 words this year.

    1. That’s so great! The pages read challenge sounds like a lot of fun. I might start keeping track of mine, just for the heck of it. It’s really crazy to think how many pages we actually read! And yayyyy, a fellow Ravenclaw! Fingers crossed we can win the House Cup! Good luck and happy reading this year! 😊

  2. Best of luck with your challenges! My reading goal this year is to get through the bigger books on my shelf. It’s time to stop being intimidated by them!
