Okay, these weren’t books that I bought in the past week, these are actually all of the books that I bought last month. I didn’t do a book haul for December so I thought that this would be a good time to showcase the beauties added to my bookshelf! Thank you, Book Outlet and Barnes & Noble, for always being there to take my money. HUGS!
What do you think about books being made into movies or tv shows and do you always read the book first?
I like movie/tv adaptations, because they bring to life the stories that we all cherish and love. Yes, they aren’t always true to the original story, but it’s still fun getting to see your characters in the flesh. I will never not be happy that Hollywood is smart enough to realize that some of the best stories actually come from books. I mean, it’s pretty obvious! I also try to read the book first before watching the movie or show, but it doesn’t always work out that way. Honestly, either way is fine. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way!
What books did you get during December? Have you read any of the ones that I got? What did you think of them? What do you think about movie/tv adaptations of books? Leave a link to your Musing Mondays post in the comments below!
Wow, you got some sweet reads last month,
Happy Reading!

I am so leery of adaptations! My imagination does some great work so I don’t usually need real actors or images to replace them in my head. Plus, I hate the liberties taken in movies (I’m still angry with The Maze Runner!!!!) The only adaptation I like is Harry Potter, obviously 🙂 If I am curious about a story, I will get the book before watching the adaptation.

Yeah, I really can’t stand when they switch up the story in the book for the movie. That just makes no sense to me! But I’m always curious about the adaptations. I think I’m just a glutton for punishment lol. 😂

Book to adaptation is always interesting. I have the firm belief that it’s absolutely okay if the movie strays from the book (to an extent! Only if it makes sense!) because you can’t fit it all in, it may not translate well to the screen, and the important thing is to maintain the “spirit” of the text, rather than the “letter” of the text.

Yeah, I don’t mind a few changes or omissions. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings did great jobs of being able to do that!

Age of Myth looks very…legendary. No, not Barney style. The cover reminds me of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. And now that I look closer it does have “legend” on the cover!

Haha! I’m really excited for that book. Regan at PeruseProject raved about it, so I knew I had to snag a copy. I’m a sucker for a good fantasy! 😊
