THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Does reading help you to release stress during stressful times? If it does do you have a favorite book that you return to for calm?
I bought the following book(s) this past week…
So I actually purchased these books from Book Outlet during their Black Friday Sale, but they finally arrived last week. Needless to say, I got way too many books. However, for only spending $60 on all hardbacks except for three, I think I got an insane bargain. I don’t even feel bad about it.
- Gathering Darkness (Falling Kingdoms, #3) by Morgan Rhodes, hardcover
- Valiant (The Modern Faerie Tales, #2) by Holly Black, hardcover
- A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James, paperback
- A Song for Ella Grey by David Almond, hardcover
- Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake, paperback
- Artemis Awakening (Artemis Awakened, #1) by Jane Lindskold, hardcover
- Newt’s Emerald by Garth Nix, hardcover
- Armada by Ernest Cline, hardcover
- Where Futures End by Parker Peevyhouse, hardcover
- World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks, paperback
- Circle of Stones by Catherine Fisher, hardcover
- The Girl at Midnight (The Girl at Midnight, #1) by Melissa Grey, hardcover
- A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Puffin Classics hardcover
- Fuse (Pure, #2) by Julianna Baggott, hardcover
- The Cutting Season by Attica Locke, hardcover
See, I told you that I bought a lot!
Does reading help you to release stress during stressful times? If it does do you have a favorite book that you return to for calm?
I would have to say that reading does help me relax when I’m feeling stressed. I think it’s because my mind becomes focused on what I’m reading, and not what is bothering me. However, I don’t have any particular book that I turn to. I’ll just pick up whatever book I’m in the middle of.
What books did you buy recently? Have you read any of the ones from my haul? Does reading help you release stress? Leave a link to your Musing Monday post in the comments below!
15 books! Wow! And for only $60! I wish I had thought of ordering from Book Outlet on Black Friday! Reading also calms me down and makes me less stressed. I guess it’s just an escape from the current world you’re living in and it makes you forget about the thing your stressing about, like you said.

Yes! I really didn’t need to buy any more books but the deal was just too good to pass up, especially for hardbacks! I’ve become super obsessed with Book Outlet lol… Exactly! It calms me cause I end up being so drawn into the story that I don’t think about anything else.

Well Larkin, I think you scored a hell of a deal LOL! & I would also have 0 regrets. I’m actually collecting all of the Falling kingdom books myself (first 3) to binge in 2017. I managed to get my hands on A Brief History of Seven Killings in HC a few months back on Bookoutlet but it was pure luck since it was the only copy available smh. Love your Black Friday haul, happy reading 😉

Thank you! Yeah, I only have the 1st and 3rd book right now in the Falling Kingdoms series right now. I’m kind of just buying them as I see them available. I plan to do a binge read in 2017 too! Yeah, I was able to snag one of those floppy softcovers of A Brief History. I love those kinds of books! Most of the other books I grabbed were all cover buys. I hope I got a few gems! 😊

Oh, dang it! Maybe I can grab them the next time!.. Hahaha I hope so! My dad read the Artemis Awakening this weekend and loved it. He’s going to buy the sequel this week! So I think that’s at least one gem! 😂

Amazing haul 😍 I love Anna Dressed in Blood!! I so wish Australia had a Book Outlet, but then it’s probably good it doesn’t because I would have no money 😅

Thank you! And I’ve heard great things about it, so I’m looking forward to it!
Hahaha my wallet is definitely a little lighter since I first started ordering from there. It’s so hard to just keep it to 1 or 2 books, I usually end up with at least 5 or more. 😂🙈
