I glanced over at my bookshelf the other night (and the two piles of books beside it), and realized that I have a ton of books that I have yet to read. There are literally two and half shelves dedicated to just my TBR, and if I count up the books individually, the total is 57! 57 books, people!!! And that’s not including the 3 that I just ordered from B&N, which would then bring my total toΒ sixty. Sixty books that I have yet to read but spent money on. Now, that’s my fault, I won’t deny it. I just spent the first half of this summer in a reading slump which has put me behind a bit.
Now, I have another dilemma with my TBR shelves -they’re actually pretty full of series. Not even the entire series, but just one or two books from them. I’ve actually started quite a few series this year but I haven’t been able to get back to them. I’m one of those people who like to binge read series, and unfortunately, I haven’t been able to do that recently because I have just way too many books to get through. So, to combat this problem, I have decided to do Stand-Alone August followed by Smashing SeriesΒ September. This month I will focus on reading as many stand-alone TBR books as possible, so that next month I can focus on binge-reading the series that I have. By reading my stand alone novels first, I will then be able to turn my focus (and money) to completing some pretty amazing series. This won’t make sense to some of you, but trust me, this will make my TBR so much easier to handle. Well, I hope that it does anyways!
Feel free to join in on the fun if you want to – the more, the merrier! You may use my graphic or create your own. Please leave a link to your post in the comments so others may see your awesome book choices, as well!
Stand-Alone August TBR
Jesus, that’s a very ambitious TBR… What have I done?!
Forbidden is such and emotional sob-fest but I kind of loved it back when I read it a couple of years ago !
And some of the books you have here I’ve been eyeing for the longest time like Song if Achilles (which I have, I have a crushing TBR too haha) My Lady Jane and The Darkest Part of the Forest. I hope all the books you want to read turn out to be good π

That’s what I’ve heard! I’m trying to emotionally and mentally prepare myself before I read it… Thank you! I hope you enjoy them as well! π

A few of these are books that I have but haven’t read either. π I’ve accumulated soooo many books over the summer and have read none of them because I’ve been just reading library books since once I go back to college next month, I won’t have access to a library. At least then I’ll be able to get through the dozens of books I’ve bought haha

That’s what happened to me! I’ve bought sooooo many books in the last 6 months that I can never make a dent in them. For every one I read, I end up buying 4 more. Hopefully my book buying ban during August will help alleviate the problem haha! π

I’ll probably be putting myself on a book buying ban for September & October, but I usually do not do well with not buying books, no matter how hard I try hahaha

I’m the same way! But I know I’ll be buying tons in September as I finish up all of my series. My wallet is already crying lol.

I love these kinds of challenges. I may join you this month, but you have also grown my TBR pile because some of these books look gorgeous!

Oh, awesome!! And I’m sorry that I helped add to your pile haha! Being a book blogger is both a blessing and a curse – we are always adding to our TBR. π

I know! It’s a never ending treadmill and I am currently reading like three books! I need to get going on them.

Oh wow, you’re braver than I am! I have the hardest time reading multiple books at once.

Well they are all very different so it works out. If I was reading three thrillers at once they would mash up and that would be a very confusing, but potentially funny review.

Hahahaha that would be a review that I’d love to read!

Maybe I will write a comical one of a couple of thrillers once I read a few more.

I read The Darkest Part of the Forest last year and actually really enjoyed it! It’s definitely different from anything I’ve ever read before! I didn’t know that The Serpent King is a standalone! Need to add that to my tbr

Awesome! I’m really looking forward to it… And yeah, it is! I’ve heard such great things about it. You should try it out!

I’m curently reading My Lady Jane and I’m really enjoying it so I hope you love it as well, and I have Uprooted on my to-read list as well. I’ve seen so many amazing reviews for it and I can’t wait to get started on it myself, same with The Songs of Achilles as well.
I think this is a great idea for a feature as well, I have about an equal amount of series and stand alones on my to-read list but I think if I had more of one of the other I’d definitely need to do something like this too! π

Yay, I’m glad to hear that your enjoying My Lady Jane!.. Thanks! I just want to focus on thing at a time haha. I’ve been starting series and then stopping after one book to start something else, and this is my attempt to fix that problem. We will see if it works lol!

Yeah it’s great so far, definitely living up to all the postive reviews I’ve seen for it so hopefully it will do the same for you! π
Ohh in that case I hope it does work, normally when I start a series I do go on to whatever other books have been released in it so far, ainly because I loved the book so much I binge read anything else I can get my hands on! π

That’s what I normally do too, but for some reason I haven’t been doing that this year! I’ve just been buying the first book which is so not like me.

I guess at least that way if you don’t enjoy the series you haven’t spent loads of money on it have you? π

Yeah, that could be what my subconscious was doing!… Or maybe I was just too overwhelmed by all of the pretty books at the bookstore to just buy one series lol. Probably a bit of both hahaha!

Oh I’m always overwhelmed by the pretty books! That and I just have no self control when it comes to spending money on books! π

Gah! There are so many books on your list that I want to read too! Ink and Shadow, My Lady Jane, Paris Bookshop. I’m impressed by your goal. Good luck!

The Darkest part of the forest and Forbidden are both amazing books. And I still have to read My lady Jane, Uprooted and The song of Achilles as well π

I like this idea! βΊοΈ
I too have way too many unread books in my possession, and most are also apart of a series π if it wasn’t for school I doubt I’d be this deep into the never ending TBR.

Thanks! Yeah, I’m trying to get most of my stand alones out of the way this month so I can finish a lot of my series next month. I prefer to binge read and this was the best way for me to be able to focus on that! TBRs only get bigger, I swear haha. π

I think that’s the TBRs purpose in life.. to get as big as it possibly can π
