I’m gonna be honest, I’m not really sure who is hosting this genrethon exactly. I believe it’s a bunch of Booktubers but I can’t be entirely sure. I heard about it from my awesome friend,Β Britt @ Geronimo Reads, so thank you!
All you have to do is pick at least 3 different books in 3 different genres. However, if I can do more then that would be freaking fantastic and I’ll do a small victory dance, record it, then show it to y’all on my wrap-up post. Or not. We can just pretend that I’ll do that.
1. YA Western –Β Walk on Earth a Strange by Rae Carson
So I’m actually almost 50% done with this one but I think it’s only fair that it counts. And Britt says it does, so I’m counting it! Anyways, I’m really enjoying this book right now. Lee is a fun character, and I’m a little jealous of her survival skills. Though we do share one thing in common, we are both a terrific shot.
2. Dystopian/Alternate History –Β Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine
Please, a book about the Great Library of Alexandria? Yeah, sounds wonderful. Books, on books, on books. A bookworms dream in one story.
3. Paranormal –Β Half Bad by Sally Green
Male witches. Yup.
Optional…
4. Fantasy –Β Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
I love the fact this book is about if Dorothy was a psychopath and all of Oz is trying to kill her. I’m only hoping that this lives up to being as cool in real life as it is in my head.
Β
5. Contemporary – The Storied Life of A.J.Β Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
I cannot wait to read this. I’ve been wanting to read it for years, ever since it first came out.
Anybody else participating in April Genrethon? Have you read any of these books? What did you think about them?
I will be participating! Tomorrow I’ll post my TBR!
I have been wanting to read Walk on Earth a Strange and I have never heard of Ink and Bone but sounds great!

I ran a poll today to choose my next book and the bloggers decided on November 9, which will be my contemp, and Red Rising. The question is can I use Wink Poppy Midnight for my third book? If so, those are my 3 for Genrethon.

Great choices! And of course you can totally use Wink Poppy Midnight! I cannot wait to hear what you think about Red Rising. π

As soon as I finish WPM, I’ll dive into Red Rising. Everyone’s been raving about it. I’m glad I sent out that post because I was having the hardest time deciding on what I wanted to read next. I almost went with Truthwitch or The Shadow Queen.

Yay!! Oh, any of those would have been a fun choice for sure.

Thanks! I’ll definitely be getting to it soon no matter what since it’s one of my library books, haha! I can’t wait to read it though and see how it is. I’ve heard it’s really good but the rest of the series for some mixed reviews.

I haven’t read the rest of the series yet, but I’ve heard similar things. I think that’s why I’ve been putting it off because I don’t want to ruin the first book haha.

Haha I understand what you mean. Thats why I refuse to read the sequel to Me Before you!

Now YA Western is something I’d never heard of before! π
I got my mom The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry for her birthday last year and she really liked it! I’ve been wanting to read it for a while as well. π

Dorothy Must Die sounds absolutely fascinating! What star rating would you give it? And yay for YA westerns, I feel like it’s a bit of an understated genre nowadays. π

Well I haven’t read it yet so I can’t really say. I’ve seen a lot of reviews though where people enjoyed it so hopefully it turns out good! And I totally agree about the western genre in general. π

Good luck for the Genrethon! I’ve read The Great Library and thought it was brilliant so I hope you really like it as well! Also I’ve seen Half Bad around a lot and I’m tempted to pick it up myself! I’ll be looking forwards to seeing what you think of that one π

Thank you! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Ink and Bone. I haven’t really seen anyone review it or talk about it so it’s good to finally hear something about it! π

I’m one of the people who loved it but hasn’t reviewed it π I did think it was a really good book though so hopefully you do as well!

I want to read Walk on Earth a Strange, but I’m kind of on the fence. I see so many mixed reviews. Plus, it’s not my usually genre to read. I don’t think I have read many westerns. I guess I should want and see your review π

Yeah, it’s not a very popular genre and I haven’t read very many myself. But I really really enjoyed it! I should have a full review up tomorrow or the day after, though!
