WWW Wednesday – April 6th, 2016

Welcome to WWW Wednesday which is currently being hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. It’s really just a place to do little update on what all you’ve been reading lately. Anyone is welcome to join, just leave a link to your post in the comments!

The Three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think youโ€™ll read next?

Currently Reading…

Physical Book

12000020

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sรกenz

So yeah, I’m embarrassed to admit but I haven’t made any progress this week on this book. I’ve been in a kind of mini-slump and I was out of town yesterday and never had any time to read. I’ll hopefully have this finished by Friday though! Everyone raves about it!

NetGalley ARC Book

29224960

Ascension by Christopher De Sousa

I haven’t started on this book yet so I can’t really say anything about it. It’s gotten mediocre reviews so far on Goodreads so I’m interested in seeing how I feel about it. It may be one of those fantasy/paranormal novels with too many moving parts and plot holes. But we will just have to wait and see!

Recently Finished…

  • Vengeance Roadย – I absolutely loved this book. It was fun, full of revenge and a badass female MC. I definitely recommend it!! Full reviewย HERE.
  • Nora & Kettleย – If you’re friends with me on Goodreads, you’ll know that I had to DNF this book. It was beautifully written but my God, I could not get past the domestic violence. It was against two girls, one who was only 7 years old. It was just too depressing for me and I couldn’t get past it.
  • A Darker Shade of Magicย – This was a good fantasy. I enjoyed it but I think it might be a tad overhyped, as it took a while for me to get into it and I didn’t really like Lila as a character. I’m interested in seeing howย A Gathering of Shadows builds on this story and if it gets better!

Reading Next…

  • The Reflections of Queen Snow Whiteย – This one was sent to me by the author and I’m really interested in reading it! It’s a story about the later life of Snow White and how she handles her daughter marrying and being alone since her husband died. It’s a unique story and sounds really good!
  • Practical Applications for Multiverse Theoryย – A NetGalley ARC that just sounds like a fun science fiction/fantasy ride. It’s about a boy and girl who’s school begins to change once our dimension starts opening up and blending with all of the other dimensions, and teachers begin to turn into demons and the janitor becomes a sloth wearing a cowboy hat and chaps. Yes, I’m super excited to read this!
  • Ink and Boneย – Big thanks to my library for having this one available. I’ve been wanting to read it for a while now and I finally get to. Hopefully it’s as good as I’m hoping, because hello, it’s all about the Alexandria Library! I like to pretend that it never actually burnt down and destroyed so much ancient writing. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
  • Walk on Earth a Strangerย – I probably shouldn’t jump back into another Western YA after just finishing an amazing one, but hopefully it stands up to the pressure and expectations. We shall see!
  • The Other Side of Gravityย – I actually don’t remember what this one is supposed to be about. Hopefully it’s not lame. Luckily, I got it for free from NetGalley so no pressure to enjoy it there!

As always, leave me a link so I can see what you’re reading or just leave it in the comments! Have you read any of the books I’ve got listed? Thoughts on them? It’s all welcome!

  1. Have to admit I’m one of those who raved over ADSOM but I really liked Lila. I do love a strong female character who’s willing to break rules. She doesn’t change much in AGOS so you may not love it.

Read Ink and Bone recently and enjoyed it too. Wasn’t exactly what I was expecting but in a good way ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Yeah, I love those kinds of characters too normally. It’s just with Lila, I don’t find her believable as a character I think. She came across as kind of a caricature of the badass female. Just my opinion though!
Oh good! I’m not really sure what to expect anyways!

  2. Okay, so many of those books caught my attention, especially The Reflections of Snow White and Ink and Bone. Walk on Earth a Stranger is a book that has been sitting on my TBR patiently waiting for me to read it for awhile now haha I was going to take it out of the library, but somebody borrowed it and it was due back in November and they haven’t returned it ๐Ÿ˜ฆ So I’ll probably just end up buying it.

You may have already seen my WWW Wednesday, but I’ll link to it anyways lol https://kourtnireads.wordpress.com/2016/04/06/www-wednesday-46/

    1. Oh no, I’m sorry that happened! It’s my next book to read so I’ll probably have a review of it up for you by next week so you can see if it’s worth buying! Yeah, Reflections is available as an ebook from Amazon if you’re interested. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. I’m sorry to hear you’re in a reading slump! I was kind of in a mini one in March and it was awful. I recommend reading some short stories and mangas- that’s what got me out!
I would love to hear what you think of Walk On Earth A Stranger as it seems like I’ve missed all reviews on that book. I’m wavering whether or not to buy it.

    1. Yeah, I think it was mostly the books I’ve been reading lately and putting too much pressure on myself to finish them all… I’ll be sure and get the review out when I finish it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I wasn’t a big fan of Lila either, but I really liked Kell! I’m looking forward to see what he does in the next book. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

  7. I need to get on top of Aristotle and Dante. You and Britt are way ahead of me on some of these hyped-up books. I’m reading Wink Poppy Midnight, so I guess there’s that ๐Ÿ™‚ And I haven’t started Red Rising yet. Too many books at one time I guess.
