Hype or Like Fridays – April 1st, 2016

Helloooooooo to all you lovelies out there! So today is the start of something new and positively fabulous. And yes, I know it’s April Fool’s Day and no this is not a joke at all. This is the absolute real deal!

Myself, Britt @ Geronimo Reads, and Jill @ Rant and Rave About Books were having a pretty extensive Twitter discussion over different hyped books – how they affect our reading experience, which ones we haven’t read yet, etc. We realized pretty fast that there are so many hyped books out there and it’s just really hard to keep track of them. Yes, I have them shelved on Goodreads but you know, sometimes they just get pushed to the side. So we decided we want to remedy that little issue and we want to help you with your TBR problems, too. Which has brought us to…

HYPE OR LIKE FRIDAYS!

Each month, we’ll select a book that the group will read over the course of the month. On the last Friday of that month, you’ll post your review via book blog, bookstagram, YouTube, Tumblr, etc. and mention #HypedFridays. This will help us attract potential new members to the group.

The first, second, and third weeks of that same month you’ll post your answers to the discussion questions listed in the thread for that month. It’s okay if you don’t have anything that week, just join in when you’re feeling inspired and have something you want to share. The 4th Friday will just be a review of the chosen “hype book” of the month.

Before the last Friday of the current month, we’ll post the discussion topics for the following month under the discussion topics thread. If there’s a specific topic you want to discuss during the weeklies or have a suggestion for the “book of the month,” don’t be shy, all are welcome to voice their opinions.

Instead of rating the books, you’ll either “Hype it” or “Like it.” Feel free to use the hype and like pictures under the Photos link on the group home page for your post.

We will also be reading our own choice for a hype book each week to discuss on your Hype or Like post, but that’s totally optional and just depends on what you want to do. If you want to join in on the fun, you can join our Goodreads Group HERE.You can actually find an entire list of hyped books that we have come up with on the page.

Everyone is welcome! If you have any other questions feel free to ask any one of us and check out our group page, as well.

Our April BOTM is going to be Passenger by Alexandra Bracken.

For the first week, I will be reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz.

Interested in joining? Have too many hyped books that you want to read? Don’t like reading hyped books at all?

  1. Unfortunately, I’ve already decided on a set list of books to read for April’s because of the #readmyowndamnbooks challenge. But this sounds so fun.

I’m happy to see you’re reading Aristotle and Dante! It’s such a beautiful book. You’ll love it! (You’d better…) 🙂

    1. That’s alright! If any of the books you’re already planning on reading are considered hype books then you can definitely use them for the weekly posts! You can also join the group on Goodreads to see what we plan for next month. 😊
