Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

This is the first book of her’s that I have read but I am loving it so far. I always enjoy a good historical fiction novel, and one that is set in WWII? Even better! It follows four different teens as they try to escape the incoming Russians by escaping by boat to Germany. This is actually a retelling of a true maritime tragedy. I’m reading this one right now with the book club,Β The Royal Readers. Anyone is welcome to join us!

Dove by M.H. Salter

Expected Release Date: May 5th, 2016

This is an ARC I received thanks to NetGalley and I am loving it so far. Set in 1970 during the Vietnam War, Dove follows Ray and her draft dodging boyfriend, Japhy, as they escape to Canada and join a hippie compound outside of Toronto. I haven’t really ever read a book set in this time period but I love the 70’s and so I had to see just how “groovy” this book was. So far, so good. This isn’t a YA novel so just keep that in mind if you’re interested in it.

Don’t Tell, Don’t Tell, Don’t Tell by Liane Shaw

Expected Release Date: April 5th, 2016

This was an amazing book about Frederick, boy with Asperger’s, who becomes friends with the new girl in school until she disappears one day and only he knows where she went. You can find my full reviewΒ HERE.

A Stolen Kiss (Stolen Royals #1) by Kelsey Keating

This was a fun, easy read. A retelling of The Swan Princess, it follows Princess Maria and the palace stableboy, Derric, as they go on a search to find the sorceress who cursed Maria, turning her into a swan every night. I wouldn’t say this book was great or anything but it was an interesting take on this fairytale. You can find my full reviewΒ HERE.

What I Want To Read Next…

Fun Fact: I wrote this post while listening to the Star Wars soundtrack.

Have you read any of these books? Leave us a link to your WWW Wednesday post so we can see what you’re reading!

    1. Yeah, I liked it for what it was especially since I knew next to zero about it when I got it. I just think it’s less of a YA novel and more Middle Grade. It’s a fun read though, so I do encourage you to try it sometime!

  2. Truthwitch and The Lie Tree are both on my list of books to read soon! I also got approved for The Lie Tree on NetGalley, which honestly made me very excited haha I’m going to have to check out Don’t Tell, Don’t Tell, Don’t Tell as I’ve seen you and a couple of other bloggers read it and really enjoy it, plus it sounds really interesting.

  3. A Darker Shade of Magic is a brilliant book. I have loved everything V.E. Schwab has written but A Darker Shade of Magic (and the second book in that series) are definitely the best of the best. I really hope you enjoy it!
Also I really feel I need to check out A Stolen Kiss, not sure if it’s still on NetGalley but I love fairytale retellings, and I’ve never seen one about the Swan Princess before!

  4. I’m so intrigued by a lot of books on here. Especially Dove! Can’t wait to see what you think about it. I’ve never read a book set during Vietnam before so I’m sure it’ll be an interesting read!
