The Lovely Blog Award

Thank you so much Kourtni @ Kourtni Reads for the nomination!

The Rules:

  1. Each nominee must THANK the person who nominated them and link their blog in the post.
  2. They must include the rules and add the blog award badge as an image.
  3. Must add 7 facts about themselves.
  4. Then nominate 15 people!

My 7 Facts About Myself…

  1. I live in East Texas. And no, it’s not desert. This area of Texas is called the Piney Woods because it’s full of forests.
  2. I am currently attempting to read multiple books at once for the first time ever. If you follow me on Goodreads or Twitter, you’ll know how stressful I’m finding this.
  3. We have 3 dogs. Bandit – a pound puppy mix, Trigger (who’s really my brother’s) – half boxer/pitbull, and Sugar – a Jack Russell.
  4. I could eat sushi all day, everyday.
  5. I’m a bit of a gamer but recently I’ve slacked off a bit to read instead. I prefer Xbox and PC games, in case you were wondering. 🙂
  6. I had the highest amount of AR points in school every single year that we did it (also set the school record). I’m 25 years old and I’m still really proud of that accomplishment.
  7. I’ve been on a job hunt since I got back from Prague last summer. Substitute teaching and working at my parent’s company is not my idea of a career. I NEED A REAL JOB. Yeah, you could say I’m pretty frustrated at this point haha.

I’m only going to nominate a few people. Don’t worry if you’ve already done this or just don’t want to!

This or That Book Tag

I was tagged by the wonderful Reg @ She Latitude and lovely Emily @ Rose Read to do this tag. Everyone go check out their amazing blogs!

The Rules

  1. Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks).
  2. Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  3. Choose one of the options, you don’t have to tell the reasons why you chose that but you can also do them if you want to.
  4. Tag 10 other people to do this tag to spread the love!

1. Reading on the couch or on the bed?

Definitely my bed. I can’t stand our new couches so I try to stay away from them as much as possible haha. What I would love is if we had a really comfy reading chair with an ottoman to prop my feet up on. I like to get really comfy. 🙂

2. Male main character or female main character?

No preference. It doesn’t matter to me on my characters as long as I can connect with them. The more complex they are, the more I tend to like them. No one is perfect and I love when MCs really show that.

3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?

I have an insane sweet tooth, so I’ll go with sweet snacks. Unless you stick a bag of Funyuns in front of me, then watch out! I will clear a bag in one sitting. Those chips are like crack. I even got my British boyfriend obsessed with them after he came to visit.

4. Trilogies or quartets?

Well I don’t really know of many quartets, if a series isn’t a trilogy then there’s usually at least 5 books in it. So for this one I guess I’ll choose trilogies. I enjoy a good long series but sometimes it does come to a point where I feel that author is just dragging out (*cough* House of Night series *cough*).

5. First person point of view or third person point of view?

I think this just depends on the story itself. If there’s a bunch of characters involved then third person works but usually first person is nice because you can really get inside their head. It helps you connect with the MC more. I’m currently reading Don’t Tell, Don’t Tell, Don’t Tell and the MC has Asperger’s so having that first person POV is incredibly helpful and really gets you to understand how he thinks.

6. Reading at night or in the morning?

Usually I read the most at night. It’s the best time to binge read because the house is quiet and you can just sit down and concentrate on what you’re reading.

7. Libraries or bookstores?

Bookstores. I live in a really small town so the closest library is in the next town over, which of course means I can’t use it. Such crap. However, I prefer buying my books and building up my library so it doesn’t bother me too much in the end. But it would be nice to just go and spend a whole day at the library occasionally.

8. Books that make you laugh or make you cry?

I’d prefer to laugh at my books but I typically find myself crying. I’m a very emotional reader and it seems like now more than ever, most books are bittersweet rather than just a light, fun read.

9. Black book covers or white book covers?

I have more black books but I think white can be really pretty.

10. Character-driven or plot-driven stories?

Well, I guess it just depends on the type of book. Series tend to be more plot driven which leads them to being more exciting to read, typically your fantasy and science fiction novels. However, a good plot-driven story needs to have character development as well or it’s just a bunch of fluff. You can’t tell me that the characters aren’t changing and being affected by all of the stuff occurring to them, that would just be silly. While contemporaries usually have a pretty stable plot line, so for them, they most definitely need to be character driven.

I’m a rule breaker so I’m not going to do 10 tags. That just seems a bit much and not everyone has the time to do them, has already done them, or even wants to do at all. I totally get that so feel free to ignore this! 🙂
