WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

The Love That Split The World by Emily Henry

This is such a great book so far! It has diversity (she’s Native American), time travel, romance, and just a hint of the supernatural. I also love Henry’s writing, it’s simple and beautiful, especially when she’s writing about Grandmother’s stories. For a debut novel, it’s wonderful!

WHAT DID YOU FINISH READING RECENTLY?

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

This was a great read. There was so much hype around it that I wasn’t sure how it was going to measure up. Luckily, I think it did pretty well and that ending was superb. Definitely check it out! You can find my full reviews HEREHERE, and HERE.

Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom

I’m not the biggest contemporary reader, as I tend to get a bit bored with those types of stories. However, big thanks to Uppercase for sending this in their December box because I never would’ve picked it up otherwise. And I really really enjoyed it! Parker is one of my favorite characters that I think I’ve ever read about. Seriously, you’ll love her. She doesn’t take any crap from anyone, and being blind only makes her even more honest. Gotta love that!

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO READ NEXT?

21414439 15507958 A Darker Shade final for Irene 2561449220820994

All of these are for various book clubs and read-alongs I’m doing through the bookstagram community or on Goodreads. They all look and sound wonderful so I can’t wait to read them!

    1. I thought the story was good for The Grisha Trilogy but the characters were definitely the biggest weakness. It took me until the 3rd book to like Alina and I never liked Mal haha. But I’m so excited to read A Darker Shade, everyone raves about it!

  1. I’ve been seeing the Grisha series everywhere lately. Would it be a series that you highly suggest? Yeah, I’m not one for contemporary novels either. I only really pick them up if they’re highly recommended or I’m needing a happy, fast, and easy read. I’ve also really been wanting to read Truthwitch and Me Before You. They both sound amazing!

    1. Yes, I definitely recommend it, especially if you enjoy fantasy novels! I wasn’t the biggest fan of a few of the characters but the story itself is really fun… I can’t wait to read Truthwitch because everyone seems to really like it. I just hope it lives up to the hype!

  2. So many great books! I liked the Grisha trilogy, although I loved Six Of Crows even more. I’ll Give You The Sun is a really good read as well. Me Before You for me wasn’t as good as I expected, but I know most people seem to love it, so I hope you’ll feel the same. The rest of these titles are all on my TBR as well. 😀

    1. I’ve been hearing people preferring Six of Crows to The Grisha Trilogy. If that’s the case, then I can’t wait to read it!.. I think I’m going to hate the end of Me Before You so that may affect my overall opinion of it haha.

      1. The worldbuilding is pretty similar, but slightly better in Six Of Crows and I liked the characters better as well. The only bad thing is that the wait for the sequel is a long one…

I didn’t really like the ending of Me Before You either and one of the problems I had with the book is that it kind of shows that it’s easy just to give up… A lot of drama for sure, but not what I would have preferred reading.

  3. Glad you liked The Grisha Trilogy, and yes that ending was wonderful. I keep wanting to read The Love that split the world but still haven’t picked it up. Parker is an amazing character but I think she can be pretty selfish too. Also, read I’ll give you the sun next or Me before you (since the Movie is coming out soon) I’d also recommend A Darker shade of Magic but the second book ends in a cliffhanger so it’s better to wait till the 3rd book is out too. But it’s your choice. Happy reading!

    1. Definitely read it when you get the chance!.. Yeah, Parker is really selfish but I think it’s just a coping mechanism. She’s flawed for sure but that’s why I liked her so much.. Oh dang, I hate when books leave cliffhangers like that. I thought about waiting to read ADSOM later but it’s the book of the month for my book club. I think they’re just trying to torture is haha!
